On January 8, XPeng Motors' global new product launch event could be said to be absolutely packed with information. It brought four new 2026 models at once, among which the most eye-catching were undoubtedly the two new cars equipped with "Kunpeng Super Range Extension" technology: the 2026 XPeng P7+ and the XPeng G7 Super Range Extension Edition.

Simply put, this time XPeng is pushing forward on two fronts simultaneously. One front is continuing to deepen the "fuel-capable, electric-capable" range-extender route, using ultra-long pure electric range to highlight "electric for daily use, worry-free for long trips"; the other front is a large-scale trickle-down of its signature AI smart technology, attempting to let users of more models enjoy cutting-edge intelligent experiences.

First, the prices of the new cars. The starting price of the 2026 XPeng P7+ Super Range Extension Edition is 186,800 yuan, and the pure electric version also starts at 186,800 yuan. The all-new XPeng G7 Super Range Extension Edition starts at 195,800 yuan, and its pure electric version is also at this price point. The 2026 XPeng G6 starts at 176,800 yuan, while the refreshed and upgraded 2026 XPeng G9 starts at 248,800 yuan. From now until the end of March, placing an order also comes with varying degrees of Chinese New Year car purchase subsidies and benefits for financing, optional equipment, and more.

The core technology released this time can be summarized as the evolution of "physical AI." XPeng released the second-generation VLA (vision-language-action) large model, which removes the traditional language translation step and attempts to directly generate driving instructions from visual signals, with the goal aimed squarely at initial L4-level capabilities. This system is planned to begin rolling out in March 2026. Accompanying it is the newly upgraded Tianji AIOS 6.0 cockpit system, which is claimed to shift from "passive response" to "proactive service," and has upgraded nationwide available 3D lane-level navigation.

Specifically for the models, the 2026 XPeng P7+ was released simultaneously in 36 countries as a global model. The Super Range Extension Edition has 430 kilometers of pure electric range and 1,550 kilometers of combined range, and is claimed to be the range-extender sedan with the longest pure electric range in the world. It has done a lot of work on space utilization, such as a very high "room efficiency rate" and headroom brought by an ultra-thin battery pack, and emphasized meeting the safety standards of both Euro NCAP and C-NCAP five-star ratings.

Another heavyweight new car, the XPeng G7 Super Range Extension Edition, puts its selling point on being an "all-around family" vehicle. With a 55.8 kWh large battery and a 60-liter fuel tank, it achieves a combined range of 1,704 kilometers. Its configuration appears very "full," such as a zero-gravity seat for the front passenger, a rear-seat small table, an entertainment screen, ventilation, heating, and massage for all seats, as well as a large amount of storage space design, clearly aimed at family users' needs for comfort and practicality.

At the same time, the 2026 XPeng G6 and G9 were also refreshed in sync, with the core being the standard equipment of the new Tianji AIOS 6.0 system, and offering different computing power options from 750 to 2,250 TOPS on the intelligent driving chip, allowing users to choose versions according to their demand for intelligence.

Overall, this launch event demonstrated XPeng Motors' clear strategy: use range-extender technology to solve the most basic range and charging anxiety, use continuously iterating AI intelligence as its core differentiator, and cover the price range from 170,000 to 280,000 yuan through the layout of multiple models. In an increasingly fiercely competitive market, XPeng is trying to consolidate its position with a combination of "technology equality" and "experience upgrades." Next, it remains to be seen whether consumers will pay for this "family bucket" that covers long range, large space, and cutting-edge intelligence.
